LO4 KTA 5 Pre-production documents - what are the documents used for?

 Proposals/treatments/project outlines - a plan which is presented and put forward for consideration by others.

Production schedule - this is something which manages the materials and capacities based on the customers needs. it enables the company to fulfill the customers demand and complete the project in time for the deadline.

SWOT analysis - this is used to highlight the opportunities, strengths, weaknesses and threats about a project. Shows the client the benefit, problems and competitors

Asset log - log which makes up your media production. Tells you where you are getting your assets from.

Call sheet - something which is shown to the cast or crew of the production to inform and tell then where and when they need to report for a particular part of the day. 

Risk assessment - where you identify hazards and risks that could happen in the production of a product. Low, medium, high risk.

Storyboard - a storyboard shows a sequence of images to show the motion picture, animation, graphics and camera work in a media product 

Script - shows dialogue of a media product e.g film

Shooting script - order of the types of shots which matches the dialogue. 

Concept art - a form of illustration, cartoon, to convey an idea for something like a film or a game.

Visualisation diagram - this is a rough drawing or sketch to show what the product is intended to look like when it is finished. Identify colour scheme, house style, logo, position of images, font style, types of images (say why you have chosen that against the brief).

Flat plan/ wireframe - used for a website or app. Image boxes with a cross in, text box with sample text. it tell you the navigation and will say why it will meet the brief.

Prototype - basic version of the product to show how it works. Early working version.

Page mockup - specific to magazines, newspaper, leaflet (print) Annotations will relate to the brief.

Set design -  shows you the design of the set and where things are placed. TV, film, video game, animation etc 

Form - permissions form

Site structure diagram - every link from the link from the homepage to the subpages.

  Using a visualisation diagram as part of the planning process can be very effective for the production team, as well as the client, as it offers a clear visual of the way you want the final print product to look.  For example, to create a simple visualisation diagram, there is both advantages and disadvantages, but to make it clear to understand it doesn't require much techincal skills or training. As a result of this the production team can select a single person to design of the website rather than hiring a full team and wasting money. However, as it is only one person creating the diagram, it may be more time consuming than it would with a team, but it will not cost as much in the long run.  An advantage of using a visualisation diagram in the preproduction of myholidayplanner.com is that it shows a clear layout of the website which is going to be created.
